ASL Quiz

ASL Alphabet

American Sign Language (ASL) is the predominant sign language used by the deaf community in the United States. ASL uses the expression of hand gestures and movements to produce meaning. This provides a full range of communication to those with hearing disabilities. There are roughly 250,000 to 500,000 fluent signers of American Sign Language. This accounts to around 1% of the United States population. This reveals there is a clear language barrier between Americans. Increasing our knowledge of American Sign Language allows us to better communicate with Americans who have impaired hearing and utilize American Sign Language on a daily basis. ASLearn helps translate text to ASL signs. The use of this tool can help someone learn the ASL alphabet to make it easier to communicate with those who have hearing disabilities. Furthermore, the use of ASLearn helps promote awareness about the deaf or hard hearing community.
